Objectives and Programs of the Organization
This is a government-registered organization dedicated to empowering women by forming Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The organization works to improve the social and economic well-being of women by promoting education, creating employment opportunities, addressing financial challenges, and supporting women's empowerment.
Formation of Self-Help Groups
The organization establishes Self-Help Groups at the village and neighborhood level to help women become financially independent. Members are encouraged to develop the habit of regular savings from their income, enabling them to manage financial difficulties and improve their standard of living.
Each Self-Help Group consists of at least 100 women between the ages of 18 and 60 years. Every group elects office bearers, including a President, Secretary, and Teacher/Coordinator, and opens a bank account with a nearby regional bank.
Purpose of the Organization
Promoting education, reducing unemployment, and addressing the economic and social challenges faced by members.
Savings Program
All members participate in regular meetings and contribute ₹100 per month to the group's bank account. According to the group's rules, the accumulated savings remain deposited for a minimum of six months and are not withdrawn during this period.
Financial Assistance
After completing six months of regular savings, members facing financial difficulties may apply for financial assistance. Subject to the approval of the organization's regional office, eligible members may receive financial support ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹10,000 for a period of three months.
The assistance is provided at a nominal interest rate of ₹0.50 per month for every ₹100 borrowed (0.5% per month). If the amount is not repaid within the prescribed three-month period, the interest rate increases to ₹1 per month for every ₹100 borrowed (1% per month) from the fourth month onward.
Withdrawal of Membership
If a member has continuously saved for one year and is not satisfied with the organization's services, they may voluntarily withdraw their membership. In such cases, the member's total savings will be refunded along with 10% annual interest, subject to the organization's policies.
However, the registration fee paid at the time of joining is non-refundable.
Financial Transparency and Accountability
The organization maintains strict financial discipline. If any irregularity, misuse, or discrepancy is found in a member's savings or financial transactions, appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the organization's rules and regulations.
Savings Withdrawal Procedure
Any withdrawal or transaction related to a member's savings must be processed only after submitting a written application to the concerned regional office of the organization.
In emergency situations, village-level staff may authorize the release of savings. However, the concerned member must submit a formal application and obtain approval from the regional office within five days. Failure to complete this procedure may result in disciplinary action as per the organization's regulations.
